I asked, you answered: What working in T&S means to you

Trust & Safety work is often invisible, emotionally demanding, and regularly misunderstood. But, as the responses of dozens of EiM readers over the last week have demonstrated, it’s also deeply meaningful, transformative, and collaborative.

I'm Alice Hunsberger. Trust & Safety Insider is my weekly rundown on the topics, industry trends and workplace strategies that Trust & Safety professionals need to know about to do their job.

This week, I wanted to share some of the many responses I got to last week's T&S Insider about what no one tells you about working in Trust & Safety. Thanks to everyone who got in touch to share their contributions.

Also, I'm speaking at All Things in Moderation next week – would be great to see you there (virtually!).

Update your newsletter preferences if T&S Insider isn't your bag (I won't mind!). And get in touch if you have a question, want to share what you're working on or just want to say hi. Here we go! — Alice

• Bri Riggio, Discord
• Patricia Cartes Andrés, Cantina

Inspired by Netflix’s new series Adolescence, this panel examines how platforms are navigating the maturing digital ecosystem with respect to child safety. With political, regulatory, and technological forces colliding, we ask: Is today’s approach to online child protection agile enough for tomorrow’s risks?

Join us as we explore the evolving role of platforms, governments, and families in safeguarding the next generation and what’s still needed to get there.

What working in T&S means to you

Why this matters: I wrote last week about how Trust & Safety work is complex, emotionally taxing, and frequently overlooked. But as your responses show, it also comes with deep purpose and a strong sense of collective support. We must recognise both the toll and the value of this work if we are to build resilient teams and sustain ourselves in the long term.

Thanks so much to everyone who responded to last week’s edition! It’s always great when an article seems to hit home. There were so many thoughtful emails and comments that I've grouped them into key themes, along with some additional thoughts and advice.

If you have advice for EiM readers, let me know – we can keep this as a running theme. In no particular order...
